VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Another grad season means another drunk driving campaign from ICBC. The continual warnings to teens seem to be working.
Each new year means new drivers are now on the road.
Impaired driving is the second leading cause of fatal crashes for anyone between the ages of 16 and 21, but these campaigns have helped with those numbers.
“I think they are working actually. We’ve seen over the years a reduction in the numbers of young people dying in crashes in BC,” says Mark Milner with ICBC.
Milner says it would be great if they didn’t have to send these messages every year, but as long as there are dangerous drivers on the road, the campaigns will continue.
“Of course we’d love to not have to come up with these campaigns every year. But we are more than happy to try and keep young people and everyone else in BC safe.”
