SURREY (NEWS 1130) – As a 65-year-old woman recovers from multiple fractures in her forearm, police and the City of Surrey are trying to get to the bottom of what looks to be an unprovoked attack by a pit bull.
The woman was apparently walking along 120th Street and 92nd Avenue near a convenience store shortly after 10:00 this morning when it looks like a grey and white dog came after her.
“Our investigation has shown us so far that it appears the dog was unleashed at the time of the attack and that she was just in the area of that store,” says Corporal Alanna Dunlop with Surrey RCMP.
Dunlop says police are looking into whether the dog’s owner decided to take off — they want to to talk to him.
“He’s described as a caucasian male, late thirties to early forties, with a heavier build, wearing a black tank top, black sweatpants, and a black baseball hat.”
Dunlop adds she doesn’t know whether or not the woman knew the dog or its owner.
