RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – One person is in custody following an overnight homicide in Richmond’s industrial area.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called in to handle the case, but very few details are being released at this time.
Richmond RCMP received a call about a possible murder at a business on Viking Way just north of Cambie Road around 6:30 a.m. Monday. When they arrived, police found one man dead inside the business, with wounds consistent with a murder, according to Corporal Meghan Foster.
“Shortly after the homicide occurred, a male suspect was identified and apprehended by police,” Foster read from a RCMP statement. “The male suspect remains in custody and IHIT is liaising with crown counsel to see if he’ll face any homicide-related charges.”
The attack does not appear to be random, according to Foster, and police believe the victim and suspect knew each other.
The names of the two men and the business have not been released, however police tape surrounded the parking lot outside the Solink Transportation Inc. trucking company office.
This is the second homicide in Metro Vancouver so far this year. Both cases were in Richmond and this follows a targeted hit that left one man dead last Wednesday.
