Odysseo by Cavalia returns to Vancouver for the final time

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – To say there are moving parts would be putting it mildly, this show, Odysseo by Cavalia has 65 horses and 45 artists just for starters.

It takes about 120 people to set the show up under the big top, and it takes up as much space as Roger’s Arena Rink but it’s all about the horses, both on and off the stage.

Eric Paquette recognizes how incredible these animals are, and when they are treated with love and respect, it’s something most people never experience.

“The time and the effort put into it pays off. The horses are happy, and you know, we’re very passionate about the care, the mental health, and the physical health, and we do everything with all the departments to make sure the horse always comes first,” explains Paquette.

Paquette says the most care and attention goes to the 65 horses, the real stars of the show.

“We charter a 747. So, our 65 horses flew to Vancouver airport and then they were trucked to a local farm to have two weeks of pasture and leisure.”

The show draws quite the crowd.

“Like more than the Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift and Madonna combined.”

Of all the performers, the horses are the last to arrive — and yes, they do in fact get a red carpet.

Organizers say this is the last time the show with its impressive three-storey set is coming to Vancouver.
