ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – A report into what police described as a random, deadly stabbing at Abbotsford Senior Secondary School in November has been released by the school district, detailing 31 recommendations.
13-year-old Letisha Reimer was killed and a 14-year-old girl was seriously hurt in the attack on November 1st, 2016.
A 21-year-old man was arrested after the incident and was not cooperative with police or the courts in the days after.
The report recommends improved training for staff, better communication during lockdowns, and making sure areas in schools that have blackouts of cell phone reception have the issue fixed.
It recommends the district consider equipping classrooms with first aid kits and information on how to provide basic first aid, and consider producing a “lockdown” instructional video, in conjunction with the Abbotsford Police Department.
