ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – A man from Abbotsford has been charged with second-degree murder after a killing in the city earlier this summer.
Back on the morning of July 4th, 62-year-old Clarence Crothers was found dead along Braun Avenue.
“Early in the investigation, police identified Abbotsford resident 50-year-old Jeffrey Halicki as a suspect in connection to the Crothers murder,” says Corporal Meghan Foster, who speaks for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
“While motive for the homicide and evidence collected cannot be spoken to, Mr. Crothers and Mr. Haliki were known to each other and the murder was not believed to be random,” she adds.
Halicki was arrested last Friday. His first court appearance was today in Abbotsford.
Foster says it’s not the first time police have had to deal with him.
