VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Ongoing summer road work has continued to snarl traffic in downtown Vancouver this weekend and will do so again over the Labour Day holiday. And some already busy streets have been blocked off to allowing filming, forcing drivers to use other streets.
“Hastings from Bute to Howe from 1:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m.,” says Cheryl Nelms with the City of Vancouver.
She says upgrades along the Burrard Street Corridor are also wrapping up.
“Really, the notable impacts are really happening actually next Sunday we’re going to have a full road closure on Burrard and Pacific between 2:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Burrard north- and southbound and Pacific east-west between 2:00 am and 8:00 a.m.”
Most of that work will happen with traffic being re-directed to the Granville Bridge.
Parking will also be affected.
Nelms says ongoing upgrades need to be done now when the weather is good.
“This is paving work and so we need to do that when the temperature’s nice and warm and it’s not raining, so we get good pavement out on our streets and we get those good roads that everyone enjoys to use.”
