VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A fire at an African drum shop on Broadway near Manitoba late Sunday night left the building a total loss, but there were no injuries.
Witnesses and video from the scene shows flames shooting out the top of African Arts and Drums, which singed nearby buildings.
One witness also reported hearing an explosion before the fire began.
Some people reporting the fire noticed the crackling and sparking of electrical lines just above the store, said Deputy Chief Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services Brian Godlonton.
Firefighters at the scene say the building is a total loss, but there were no injuries.
A power outage in the area also left some 2,400 customers without power, according to the BC Hydro website.
No word yet on a cause.
