Severe flooding closes major intersections in Vancouver, Burnaby

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It was a chaotic commute home for many people in Metro Vancouver today.

Major intersections in Vancouver and Burnaby were rendered impassable after a day of heavy rainfall, and several intersections were closed.

Photos posted to Twitter show several centimetres of water in the area.

TransLink says flood waters forced the closure of Coquitlam Central Station along the West Coast Express at 4 p.m., but it was open again before 6 p.m.

The Transportation Ministry says it’s closely watching areas prone to landslides as the rain continues to fall.
