Crews battle three-alarm house fire in Kitsilano

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Several blocks have been cordoned off in Kitsilano this morning as crews battled a fire in a third-floor home.

Vancouver Fire and Rescue crews have been responding to the blaze at West 3rd Ave and Trafalgar St.

Andrea Macpherson with City News says the home was fully engulfed.

“There are really heavy flames shooting from the top storey. The firefighters are putting their hoses up into the air to sort of protect the second storey right now.”

The crews have been doing floor-by-floor searches as precaution. They say it’s been a difficult fire to fight because of the access to the building. The building next door has water damage.

Neighbours have been standing nearby in their pajamas.

It doesn’t appear anyone was injured in the fire. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
