SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Mounties in Surrey are issuing a public warning after a disturbing and violent sexual assault on a girl.
They say at about 4 a.m., a man reportedly broke into a home around 106A Avenue and 132A Street where he attacked a girl who was home at the time.
“The suspect fled out the back door after being confronted by another resident of the house. The female victim did not sustain any physical injury but is understandably shaken,” says Staff Sgt. Murray Hedderson.
The suspect is described as a white or light skinned Indigenous man in his 20s or 30s, who is roughly 5’5″ to 5’6″ tall and very thin, with short wavy black hair. He was believed to have been wearing baggy blue jeans and a grey zip up hoodie at the time. Police say the suspect may also have facial injuries or markings.
The Surrey RCMP’s Special Victims Unit has been brought in to handle the case.
“At this time this incident is not believed to be related to the recent sexual assault in Aldergrove as the suspect descriptions are different,” adds Hedderson.
On Wednesday, Mounties in Langley also issued a warning after a woman was grabbed from behind as she took out the trash. She was dragged back into her home and sexually assaulted by a man she didn’t know. Investigators said the man removed the bed sheets in a possible attempt to remove evidence from the scene. They also think the woman’s purse was stolen.
