Ken Sim wins NPA nomination, will run for Vancouver Mayor

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – After a day of voting Sunday in Vancouver, local entrepreneur Ken Sim will run for mayor under the NPA banner.

Sim beat out challengers John Coupar and Glen Chernen with 977 votes.

Coupar secured 602 votes, while Chernen won 379.

On his campaign website, Sim says he wants to make local government more transparent, calling for a full review of city finances.

He also says he will focus on housing affordability, transit, and transportation around the city.

Sim writes that he co-founded a bagel shop and has worked in the financial industry.

Meantime, Hector Bremner, who wanted to run for the NPA nomination but was told he couldn’t, reacted to the vote on Twitter.

“…Sim has won a poisoned chalice,” he wrote.

Bremner says this isn’t the NPA as most people know it.
