VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver Police have laid charges after a man was killed in December because of an assault.
The victim, 86-year-old Orlando Ocampo was pushed to the ground at the Costco on Expo Boulevard parking lot on the morning of December 20th. He struck his head on the ground.
He was rushed to the hospital but died a few weeks later on January 11th.
Now, 58-year-old Thomas Stephen Toth has been charged with manslaughter. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 14th.
Constable Jason Doucette says this development took months to get to.
“Homicide investigations are very complex in nature. You could be looking at things such as forensics, speaking with additional witnesses, and speaking to the suspect. We also have to wait for the pathology report from the coroner’s office.”
Police are calling this the ninth homicide of 2018.
