VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Starting this fall, you’ll be able to catch all of the Vancouver Giants’ games live on Sportsnet 650.
The station already broadcasts all of the Vancouver Canucks games.
“The addition of the Vancouver Giants solidifies Sportsnet 650 as the primary destination for Vancouver’s hockey fans to get their content, news and analysis on the sport that they love most,” said Scott Moore, President, Sportsnet and NHL Properties.
“Now, we can essentially streamline the best hockey coverage on this station and for Rogers. This is a big move, moving forward,” said The Playbook host Satir Shah.
“I’m sure we’re going to have a lot of fun activities and contests,” Shah added. “The Giants are great partners, already. They’re always on board to get people out to the Langley Events Centre to watch the team. So, I’m sure we’re going to have a lot of fun contests for fans.”
Vancouver Giants play-by-play announcer Dan O’Connor will call the games on Sportsnet 650, starting with the season opener against the Everett Silvertips on Sept. 21.
On top of live game coverage, Giants head coach Michael Dyck and GM Barclay Parneta will make regular appearances on the station’s various shows.
“The Giants have a strong history and legacy here in Vancouver, producing players like Evander Kane and Milan Lucic, and we are extremely excited to continue telling their story everyday on Sportsnet 650,” said Craig MacEwen, Program Director, Sportsnet 650.
“This will be a huge year for junior hockey in Vancouver with the 2019 NHL Draft coming to town and all eyes on potential first round pick Bowen Byram. It’s going to be great for Vancouver hockey fans.”
Rogers is the parent company of both Sportsnet and NEWS 1130.
