VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It was a chaotic afternoon for commuters after service on the Canada Line was disrupted due to a medical emergency at the Olympic Village station.
At one point, the system was shut down between Waterfront and Kind Edward and extra buses and a shuttle had to be used.
Despite the emergency being resolved, commuters should expect delays as crowds clear.
The Expo and Millennium Lines were not affected.
“Well because of the massive disruptions hundreds of people were waiting for the southbound trains which were operating very sporadically,” said NEWS 1130’s Adam Cooper.
“Suddenly the word came through that the city-bound trains were running again so that’s when a surge of people packed down onto the platform at King Edward, the whole platform was covered, rows of people probably about six of seven deep and not even a quarter of them could fit into the first train,” he said.
