Truck on fire forces closure of Highway 99 southbound

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Highway 99 was forced to close southbound between 24th and 16th Avenue after a truck caught on fire Thursday afternoon.
The cause of the fire is still unknown but photographs show the truck was transporting hay.
Emergency crews are on scene detouring drivers. Commuters should expect delays as cleanup continues and are being asked to use alternate routes.
Northbound lanes remain open but are moving slowly.
Callers to the newsroom said smoke could be seen and smelled from afar.
