Terminally ill woman attacked in Sicamous home invasion

SICAMOUS (NEWS 1130) – A woman who is dying of cancer has a broken nose after she was attacked at gunpoint during a home invasion in Sicamous on Wednesday.

RCMP say two men with guns forced their way into the home at around 6:30 a.m. The victim was tied up and kicked in the face.

“The woman, 59 years of age, who currently is terminally ill with cancer suffered a fractured nose,” says Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

Two small safes, jewellery, and prescription drugs were stolen from the home.

Police do not believe this was a random attack.

“She had been bouned and had been assaulted at which point afterwards the suspect fled the scene,” Moskaluk says.

The men, plus a woman who apparently stayed outside during the home invasion, took off in a pickup truck.

The truck was reported stolen from the Armstrong area the night before. It is a white 2003 Ford F-350 dually with BC license plate DN5358. There is a distinctive rack in the box with orange clearance lights on the cab roof.

Police are still looking for the vehicle. Police are considering the people in the truck armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of this vehicle or the home invasion is asked to call the Sicamous RCMP at 250-836-2878 or CrimeStoppers.
