Enbridge turning on repaired pipeline

PRINCE GEORGE (NEWS 1130) – A section of natural gas pipeline near Prince George has been repaired and will soon start working again after it ruptured and caught fire earlier this month.
Enbridge says the section of pipe has been fixed and the company will slowly turn on the taps up to 80 per cent capacity over the next two days.
The company says it still has to do some more safety checks before running the pipe at full capacity. That will mean carrying out a dig program at different locations along the pipe system to make sure they are working properly.

“This work will help further validate the integrity of the entire system, prior to returning both the 30” and 36” pipelines to full operating capacity,” reads the release. “Until we are fully satisfied it is safe to operate the lines at full capacity, and subject to regulatory review, both pipelines will continue to safely operate at reduced pressures.”

The exact cause of why the pipeline broke is still under investigation.
The second, smaller pipeline was returned to service at 80 per cent capacity on October 11.
