PORT COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – A man is dead after investigators say he was involved in a serious fight Sunday.
The Coquitlam RCMP was called to a home on Atkins Avenue near Shaughnessy Street just after 5:30 a.m. for reports of a disturbance.
When officers arrived, they found the man with serious injuries, who later died in hospital.
A second man was arrested at the home in connection with the death, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has since taken over the investigation.
“Detectives will be methodically going through the crime scene, collecting all the forensic evidence available,” Corporal Frank Jang of IHIT says. “IHIT will be conducting an extensive canvas of the neighbourhood for video surveillance footage and witnesses.”
Investigators say this was an isolated incident, and add the two men are believed to have known each other.
There is no risk to the public, police add.
