Newborn baby abandoned in Mission dumpster in critical condition

MISSION (NEWS 1130) – A newborn girl is in critical condition after she was abandoned in a dumpster outside a daycare in Mission.

The child was found on Friday in the area of Prentis Avenue near Stave Lake Street

“A 21-year-old Mission woman was arrested but was later released with no charges,” said Insp. Annette Fellner.

Fellner said she could not comment on how long the baby was in the dumpster before she was found.

RCMP have not shared any details about the potential relationship between the woman and the baby, nor disclosed exactly how old the child is.

Fellner says this incident is not linked to the nearby daycare. She adds this was an isolated incident and there’s no concern about safety to the public.
