ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – If you live in Abbotsford, don’t be surprised if someone knocks on your door asking you for a signature.
A recall campaign is being organized to remove MLA Darryl Plecas from office. It is being promoted on Facebook.
Organizer Robin Roy believes constituents in Abbotsford South don’t like how Plecas ran as a BC Liberal then defected to become Speaker of the Legislature, supporting a minority government.
“He has betrayed his party. He’s betrayed his constituents. He’s done things that were very … underhanded,” he claims.
Roy adds questions remain about the investigation at the legislature sparked by Plecas, involving the Legislature’s clerk and sergeant-at-arms.

“Every door will be knocked on — morning, noon and night — at least twice in each one of those slots. We’re needing a lot of bodies to be able to make sure we hit every house.”
Roy isn’t actually in Plecas’ riding; he lives in Langley.
The recall campaign, which still needs to be approved by Elections BC, would need signatures from at least 40 per cent of eligible voters in the riding.
