BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – It’s not just drivers being slowed down by gas line work in Burnaby.
People who take the bus along Lougheed Highway and Como Lake Avenue in Coquitlam are also facing delays.
Lida Paslar with TransLink says four bus routes are affected right now, but commuters on other routes will feel the impact over the next few weeks. “It is a phased approach, as far as the re-routes and the delays. We’ll continue to keep our customers informed.”
“We ask our customers to give themselves extra time, when they can; to check our trip planner on their mobile device; or sign up for transit alerts to be the first to know, if there are any changes to the schedule,” she added.
Students going to SFU are among those facing delays because of the gas line work being done by FortisBC.

Drivers should prepare for lane closures along Lougheed Highway and Broadway in Burnaby and on Como Lake Avenue in Coquitlam.
Commuters will also want to avoid the stretch between Kengsinton and Bainbridge, with a lane closed both westbound and eastbound. Southbound lanes are also closed on Madison from Halifax Street at the Madison Avenue Lougheed intersection.

FortisBC’s work began last year in Vancouver and parts of Burnaby. The upgrades are expected to be completed this year.
