METRO VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Fraser Health has confirmed another case of Measles in Metro Vancouver.

The health authority says the latest case is connected to an outbreak at three French-language schools earlier this year.

“It’s a resident who was linked to the initial exposures in Vancouver,” adds Doctor Aamir Bharmal with Fraser Health.

Bharmal says luckily the patient was isolated in time.

“The individual is isolated very quickly, you know right at the time of exposure and so there are no concerns that they’ve exposed other people during their contagious period,” he adds.

There have been 17 confirmed cases of Measles in Metro Vancouver so far in 2019. But Bharmal says many details about the cases cannot be shared.

“We haven’t been going into a lot of the details in terms of all of the specifics about where each of these residents are from, all I can say is that they’re all from Metro Vancouver.”

A separate case was confirmed a few days ago which Bharmal says it too was linked to the french schools.
