ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – If you want to get that perfect shot in a field of bright flowers, this weekend is your last chance at an annual event in the Fraser Valley.
The Abbotsford Tulip Festival will be wrapping up on Sunday. Owner Alexis Shirk says given the warm weather, the next couple of days could be very busy.
She adds attendance has been similar to other years. “We’re in the 80,000 to 90,000 [range of] people that come out. I haven’t done the total tally yet and this weekend will definitely give us our final numbers.”
“This year, in particular, we’ve had fantastic weather. Almost every weekend has been beautiful. It’s been a great year and we’ve seen a lot of people come out and enjoy the tulips.”
Shirk says early varieties are gone, but the mid and late season ones are still beautiful.
If you head to the festival this weekend, remember you’re not allowed to step on the flowers. Last week, we heard about selfie-seekers stepping over the white rope to get the perfect picture.
