Vancouver Pride Society one of three Canadian LGBTQ groups to get new federal funds

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) —  The Vancouver Pride Society is one of three LGBTQ groups across the country that will be getting a financial boost from the Federal Government.

Minister of Tourism Mélanie Joly made the announcement today, saying the cash will go towards the enhancement and growth of pride events. The funds are meant to help grow the Canadian tourism sector.

Vancouver Pride Society, Montreal Pride and Toronto Pride each received $1-million through the new Canadian Experiences Fund.

The funding will be given over a two-year period.
