VANCOUVER NEWS (1130) — Local celebrity Canuck the crow is a father.
Canuck and his mate Cassiar have welcomed at least three chicks to their nest in East Vancouver.
An online post on the Facebook page “Canuck and I”, which is run by a resident in the area, says the chicks were born on Friday.
This is the first successful group of hatchlings for the pair, and the new parents are being kept busy with constant feedings. At the beginning of May, the Canuck and I Facebook page wrote that Canuck and Cassiar were forced to abandon their nest after an airborne attack by a predator.
Both birds were not hurt, but their chicks, sadly, did not survive the attack.
Canuck and his mate also lost a set of chicks last year.
Canuck made international headlines back in 2017, when he was spotted stealing a knife from a crime scene.
Since then he’s been spotted attacking mail men in his neighbourhood, and even catching rides on the SkyTrain.
