Vancouver restaurant makes appearance in Netflix film ‘Always Be My Maybe’

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The latest Netflix hit “Always Be My Maybe” was almost short one easily recognizable Vancouver setting because the owner of New Town Bakery and Restaurant didn’t know who actress and comedian Ali Wong was.

Susanna Ng told The Star that she actually turned down the first few offers to use her space for a day because she didn’t know Wong, nor did she know what the film was about.

She finally gave in, thinking she’d be getting a day off, but it turned out the crew wanted Ng and ten of her staff to appear in the film, serving dim sum to the lead characters, Marcus and Sasha. The restaurant also prepared all the food used in the scene.

Set in San Franciso, the film also stars Randall Park from the sitcom “Fresh off the Boat.”
