NANAIMO (NEWS 1130) – An investigation into the sex trade in Nanaimo has led to the arrest of a man from Port Alberni.
Stephen Bradley Ewing, 40, has been arrested on an outstanding warrant by the Nanaimo RCMP. He is charged with three courts of sexual assault causing bodily harm, which relate to alleged incidents that occurred between March and October of 2018.
He has been released on bail, which has a number of conditions that he must abide by. His next court date is set for Sept. 10.
Cst. Gary O’Brien with Nanaimo RCMP says the investigation is ongoing.
“We strongly believe there are people in our community and possibly throughout central Vancouver Island, that may have information which will further this investigation. For that reason, we are releasing a picture of the accused in hope that it will lead to further tips,” says O’Brien.
Nanaimo RCMP are asking the public if they have any information about the alleged incidents or ones that may still be unreported to contact Cst. Mike Baylin at 250-754-2345. For individuals who wish to remain anonymous, they can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
