VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The provincial government has finalized station locations for the future Broadway Subway project.
Six stations will be built underground, mostly along Broadway, with the station on the eastern-most edge just off Great Northern Way, close to the Emily Carr campus.
On the other end, the line will run until Arbutus — as was originally planned — where riders will be able to connect with the 99 B-Line.
In between, stations will be located at Broadway and Main Street, Broadway and Laurel Street, as well as at Broadway and Granville Street. The sixth station will make use of the existing entrance to the Canada Line at Cambie and Broadway, “to ensure a convenient underground connection between the Millennium and Canada lines,” the province says.
“Once completed, all stations will be accessible by bus, walking and cycling,” it adds.
Final names for the stations will be chosen at a later date, and the province says a contractor will be chosen mid-next year.
The hope is to have the Broadway Subway running by 2025.
