SAR pilot in fatal Campbell River helicopter crash remembered

CAMPBELL RIVER (NEWS 1130) — A pilot who frequently flew for Campbell River Search and Rescue has been identified as the victim of Tuesday’s helicopter crash.
Ed Wilcox was “a generous man who put others well-being ahead of profit and gain to make his community a better place,” reads a Facebook post by the SAR team.

Wilcox is being remembered as a “champion of safety” within the forest industry and a “huge supporter” of search and rescue.
The pilot did not survive when his helicopter crashed into an artist’s studio in Campbell River on Tuesday.
