NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS 1130) – Police in New Westminster have closed off Osborne Ave. near Second St. as they investigate a report of shots fired in the neighbourhood.
Yellow tape is up and officers are still on the scene after they say they received reports of shots fired at around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. In a release, the New Westminster Police Department says shots were fired in what looks like a “targeted, isolated event,” and the suspect fled before officers arrived.
Police tape up around a home near 2nd and Osbourne in New Westminster. NWPD hasn’t said why. Officer standing guard in back yard. Vehicle on jack with rear wheel missing and front tire flat. Don’t know if that’s significant. pic.twitter.com/jE5WMEo709

NEWS 1130 has reached out to police for more details on the incident, but has not yet heard back.
Neighbours say they heard a “pop” and a woman was taken to hospital, moaning, at around the same time on Monday, but that has not yet been confirmed.
They add the home has been “troublesome” in the past, and police have visited a tenant there before.
People living here say it’s a nice neighborhood. Lots of families. But witnesses I spoke with say it’s no surprise at all this home is the focus of this kind of police attention. pic.twitter.com/ci3QYCmjk6
