IHIT tracing timeline of events ending in body found in burnt out SUV in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) — Police have now identified the man who rented an SUV that was found burnt out with a man’s body inside last weekend in Abbotsford.
Crews were called to a vehicle fire on Bates Road between Townshipline Road and Harris Road around 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 15.
Once the fire was out, a body was discovered inside. Homicide investigators were called in by the Abbotsford Police Department.
Investigators say that the SUV, a black Chevy Tahoe, was a rented to a 48-year-old man named Sukhdev Dhaliwal.
“IHIT is seeking to develop a timeline of events leading up to the report of the burning vehicle and discovery of the body. While we are unable to confirm if Mr. Dhaliwal was the victim in this case, we are interested in speaking to anyone who may have seen or spoken to him, says Sgt. Frank Jang in a release. We must also wait for the conclusive findings from the autopsy as well as DNA verification before we are able to positively identify the victim.”
