SURREY (NEWS 1130) — The Surrey RCMP needs help identifying a suspect after a family was apparently pepper sprayed at a home in the Whalley area last month.

On Dec. 19, 2019, police responded to a call of a pepper spray assault near 102 Avenue and 138A Street.

The suspect apparently knocked on the door of a house and pepper sprayed the man who opened it. The suspect went inside briefly before running away.

Police believe he meant to target a different home.

Three out of the five people home at the time were treated for exposure to pepper spray, but there were no serious injuries.

The suspect is described as male, South Asian, six feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black hoodie at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
