Olympic Cauldron lights up Saturday marking 10 years since Winter Games

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — It doesn’t happen often, but Vancouver’s Olympic Cauldron was lit up Saturday evening.

It’s was the culmination of a day full of festivities at Jack Poole Plaza, all set up to mark a full decade since Vancouver hosted the Winter Games.

The Canadian Olympic Committee and some athletes from those Games were there Saturday, and were available for meet and greets as well as sports demonstrations.

The free fan festival kicked off at 11:00 a.m., and the cauldron lighting was at 5:30 p.m.

Operating the flames costs $1,600 per hour, so there was only a limited time to bask in the glow.
