LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) — After more than two decades with the BC Liberal Party, a Langley MLA is announcing he is not seeking re-election in the next provincial election.
Rich Coleman, first elected in 1996, has been a prominent BC Liberal over the years, where he recently stepped in as interim leader of the party from 2017 to 2018 after former Premier Christy Clark resigned.
Coleman also served as Public Safety Minister, Housing Minister, and Forests Minister.
BC Liberal Leader Andrew Wilkinson has thanked Coleman for his time with the party and cites him as a fundamental player in the party.
“Rich was instrumental in the landmark accomplishments of successive BC Liberal governments,” Wilkinson said in a statement Saturday morning.
“Nearly a quarter-century in public life requires significant personal sacrifices. In addition to recognizing Rich for his years of service to the people of Fort Langley-Aldergrove, Langley East, and all of British Columbia, we thank his wife Michelle, and their children and grandchildren, for generously sharing Rich with our team.”
