BC Women’s, Children’s Hospitals limiting visitors due to COVID-19

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — BC Women’s and Children’s Hospitals are limiting visitors and rescheduling non-urgent appointments as a precaution amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
At BC Children’s, kids who have appointments at clinics or who visit the emergency room can only be accompanied by one adult. Children who are admitted to the hospital as in-patients can have two adult visitors.
Similarly, at BC Women’s maternity patients, visitors to the urgent care clinic and visitors to any outpatient clinics are restricted to one adult support person or caregiver.
Two adults are allowed to visit infants in the the Neonatal ICU.

The hospitals will start limiting the people on site by rescheduling some appointments starting Monday.
“In keeping with the provincial health officer’s advice to encourage social distancing, we are decreasing the number of people on-site at any one time and, as a result, we will begin to reschedule non-urgent appointments, tests and procedures,” a statement from both hospitals says.
The number of entry points will be reduced so that more screening of patients and visitors can be conducted.
