Coquitlam murder victim identified as Ivy Chen, sister charged

COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) — Police have identified the woman whose body was found last month in a Coquitlam park, and have now charged that woman’s sister with first degree murder.
Pen Yun Ivy Chen, was last seen on March 6 at a Canadian Tire in Vancouver. She has now been identified through an autopsy as the victim, according to homicide investigators.
Her sister Pen Jung Tracy Chen, 36, was charged with first-degree murder Friday.
Police became involved when they were called to a suspicious fire at Minnehkada Regional Park on March 10.
Tracy Chen was arrested at the scene. Six days later she was charged with indignity to a dead body.
“IHIT has worked tirelessly to gather evidence and advance the investigation since its onset,” says a release from IHIT.

“In spite of the current challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, our investigators pushed forward and got the job done,” said Sergeant Frank Jang in a statement. “IHIT operations continue without disruption and the resolve of our investigators remains strong as demonstrated by the positive outcome in this case.”
Tracy Chen is due in court Monday.
