RICHMOND (NEWS1130) — After 15 suspicious fires over a span of nine months, Richmond RCMP have released a description and a sketch of a teenager they believe is behind them.
All of the fires occurred in a small geographic area, within the boundaries of McCallan Road and St. Albans Road, and between Bennett Road and Afton Drive.
Investigators say the fires were set either in hedges or in garbage bins.
The arsons began on July 13 of 2019.
All but one of the fires happened this year and they were all sparked between 11 a.m. and 6 a.m.
The most recent one was April 18
Police say they’ve been able to trace all of the fires to one individual through analysis of the evidence.
While nobody has been hurt so far and there has been no significant property damage, police say they are concerned for the public’s safety.
The suspect has been described as a white male between 17 and 19 years old. He’s about 5’6″ tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds.
His hair is blonde, and his skin is fair.
He has been observed wearing a gray, white and light blue zip-up hoodie with horizontal strips along the chest, baggy pants, and a backpack.
