Delta physio clinic readies for reopening under increased safety measures

DELTA (NEWS 1130) – A physiotherapy facility in Delta is getting ready — like many other businesses — to open its doors amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tuesday marks the first day of Phase Two of B.C.’s restart plan, and means the beginning of the new normal for people across the province.

Sungod Physio clinic director Travis Wolsey says they’ll be doing what they can to operate under the necessary safety measures when they open for business.

“We’re really screening people to make sure that they’re not coming in, number one, with any kind of flu-like symptoms,” Wolsey explains. “And they’ll be screened at multi-levels, as well as making sure our staff are symptom-free as well.”

The clinic is fully booked for the first week, after not having any appointments in March.

“So there just isn’t going to be the frequency and the volume of patients in the clinics, and we’re lucky in the clinic because there’s treatment rooms, so everyone has their own individual room and space to work in,” Wolsey adds.

As for masks, Wolsey says people are being encouraged to wear them, however, they are not mandatory at the clinic for the time being.

“Of course, you can’t enforce that or force it on anybody, but we’ll encourage it and let them know that it’s a comfortable setting to do that. We just want to show people that you can get back to resuming physio and rehab and do it in a very safe manner.”

Sungod Physio will also be reducing the typical number of appointments by about 50 per cent as it opens its doors back up.
