LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) — One of B.C.’s oldest nightclubs is closing down permanently because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gabby’s Country Cabaret in Langley will be shutting its doors, unable to survive the pandemic given the toll on the live music and bar industry.
“This decision is heartbreaking to ownership, our staff, the bands, and we think to all of our patrons and friends who made Gabby’s what it is,” owner Steve Gallagher says in a release.
“With the current world situation, unfortunately, the bar and live music industry is on an indefinite hold, and there doesn’t seem to be time in the near future for when we could reopen and return to Gabby’s under anything close to normal conditions.”
The announcement was made on social media and Gallagher is thanking patrons for the memories created over the last 34 years.
He also thanks the numerous bands that have graced the stage and adding “wherever we end up in the future, we hold out hope for a new future.”
