46 people arrested after refusing to leave camp near CRAB Park

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Vancouver Police say dozens of people were arrested for refusing to leave an encampment near CRAB Park Tuesday.
Officers had been at the camp for most of the day acting on an injunction from the B.C. Supreme Court. Police say about 60 people left, but around 4:30 p.m., dozens of people sat down and wouldn’t move.
After multiple requests and warnings to leave the area, 46 people were arrested for civil contempt of court, according to police.
Earlier in the day, one person was arrested for mischief, but wasn’t charged and later released.
About 100 people had been living in the tent city. They had been in the area since May after a camp at Oppenheimer Park was cleared out by the province.
Last week, the court ruled in favour of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, which owns the property, and ordered for everyone living in the camp to leave.
