BC Ferries brings back some food options on select sailings

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — There’s going to be more options for getting a bite to eat while sailing now that BC Ferries is bringing back food options on some routes.

In March, BC Ferries had scrapped its buffet service over concerns of transmitting COVID-19. While the company maintains safety is still a top priority, it is gradually introducing food services again that follow the guidelines set out by the province.

Passengers will be able to get items, such as burgers, chicken strips, and fries on sailings from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay, Horseshoe Bay
to Departure Bay, and Horseshoe Bay to Langdale routes. There will also be coffee, tea, and a few other breakfast options.

Sailings from Tsawwassen to Duke Point will be slightly more limited, but still offer sandwiches, sushi, as well as yogurt cups and cold cereal.

Hot food served in individual packaging and can be eaten in a limited cafeteria area, or passengers can bring it with them back to their vehicles or outerdeck area.

BC Ferries asks people to continue maintaining proper physical distancing and stay in their vehicles if possible to limit movement around the ferries.

Face coverings are still mandatory when people can’t maintain a distance of two metres from others.
