‘Love still happens in the time of COVID’: Dr. Bonnie Henry offers safe dating tips for summer

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Once again, B.C. is looking to the kind, calm words of Dr. Bonnie Henry for some much-needed advice heading into the season of summer love.
“Kissing questions” returned to the daily COVID-19 briefing Thursday as many are likely wondering the best way to spark up a summer fling safely.

“There’s a lot of things that we need to take into account, and it really depends on our own personal circumstances,” the provincial health officer says. “Go outside, meet outside, decide whether this is somebody you want to include into your bubble, into your space.”
Henry reminds those looking for love to be wary, since the connections they make will come home with them.

“If you’re somebody who’s single and doesn’t have a lot of other people who may be at risk you’re in contact with, then you can think about this in a different way, perhaps,” she says.
“We can’t stop it being summer, and love still happens in the time of COVID.”
She recommends people evaluate their risk level as well as that of the people they’re close to before diving into the dating pool.
“This is a time to start online. Start meeting outside before you take the plunge,” Henry adds.
