Whistler reopens after closing for three months due to COVID-19

WHISTLER (NEWS 1130) — One of the biggest attractions in Sea-to-Sky country has re-opened, although with some restrictions.
Whistler Blackcomb started welcoming guests Monday for the first time since mid-March, when it closed due to the pandemic.
Marc Riddell, with the resort, said to anyone heading to Whistler to keep in mind the reopening is happening in phases.
“So our sight-seeing is limited,” Riddell said. “It’ll include the Blackcomb gondola, the Peak-to-Peak gondola, and the Whistler Village gondola.”
He adds anyone riding the gondola or standing in line is required to wear a face-covering.

The resort will provide the latter if visitors don’t have their own.
As well, the bike park has limited zones and won’t fully reopen until it’s safe to do so.
Riddell expects summer at the village to be slower than past years, especially with border and travel restrictions.
“That’s definitely going to have an impact on visitation from U.S. guests, which we would normally see at this time of year, as well as international visitors, because of travel restrictions that are still in place in some countries.”
