VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — With students and staff returning from other parts of the world, post-secondary schools have plans in place to help people isolate since the start of the school year is just weeks away.
Like many other universities, UBC’s Matthew Ramsay says people can isolate on campus.
“[UBC is] offering a variety of self-isolation accommodation packages on a first-come, first-serve basis, to any members of the UBC community, UBC student housing residents, other students, faculty, and staff who need to self-isolate after arriving in Canada.”

Ramsay says the protection rules are clear.
“Students moving into a shared space any unit that shares a washroom and or a kitchen with another student in a residence managed by UBC student housing must self isolate for two weeks in a different private space before moving into their shared unit space,” he says.
The University of Victoria and SFU also offer support packages for students where they can rent private spaces to quarantine and arrange for meal delivery.
