Vancouver man who was rescued from Whistler’s Alta Lake has died

WHISTLER (NEWS 1130) — A 20-year-old Vancouver man has died after being rescued from Alta Lake in Whistler Tuesday afternoon.
Whistler RCMP were called to the Rainbow Park portion of Alta Lake just after 4 p.m. after people reported losing sight of a man who had been swimming.
The man was found, brought to shore, treated by officers and BC Ambulance paramedics, and later transported to the hospital.
Sgt. Sascha Banks says they learned of the man’s death late Tuesday night.
Whistler RCMP is working with the Coroner’s Service and are not revealing the man’s name.
“This incident is still in its infancy and certain details are not known at this time,” says Sergeant Sascha Banks. “I am aware of social media posts and a large crowd in the area which is why we are releasing basic details at this time.”
