MERRITT (NEWS 1130) — Mounties say a Merritt man has been charged for allegedly touching children inappropriately near an RV park.
On Aug. 2, RCMP was called to Claybanks RV Park in Merritt because a man was apparently intoxicated and “touching children inappropriately,” says a release.
Several children spoke with an officer at the RV park, confirming the information and providing a description of the man. He was found nearby and arrested, RCMP says.
Skylar Mcleod, 24, was charged Wednesday with one count of sexual interference, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, one count of failing to comply with a prohibition regarding children, and two counts assault.
He remains in custody and will appear in court Thursday in Kamloops.
“McLeod is currently bound by previous court-imposed release conditions, amongst these is a condition not to have no contact or communication directly or indirectly with, nor be alone in the presence of, any person you know to be or who reasonably appears to be under the age of sixteen (16) years,” reads a release.
Anyone with information who hasn’t already spoken with an officer is asked to call Merritt RCMP at 250-378-4262.
