VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Swimmers are being warned to stay out of the water at Sunset Beach due to high E. Coli levels.
The advisory went into effect Saturday afternoon, and signs have been posted around the perimeter.
“When the level of bacteria is higher there is an increased risk of illness to swimmers. The public is advised not to swim or wade in the water until the advisory is removed. Seniors, infants and children and people with weakened immunity are the most susceptible,” says the Vancouver Coastal Health website.

This is the only closure in effect for Vancouver, according to the health authority.
However, resampling is in progress at Kits Beach and Kits Point.
“When the single sample limit of ≤400 E. coli/100mL is exceeded, a resample protocol is initiated. The beach operator will be requested to re-sample as soon as possible. The beach will remain open to swimming until results are confirmed,” according to Vancouver Coast Health.
