Vancouver lounge, restaurant latest sites of possible COVID-19 exposure: VCH

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Vancouver Coastal Health says there has been a possible COVID-19 exposure at the West Oak Restaurant and Pierre’s Champagne Lounge.
While the exposures are believed to be low risk, the health authority is asking anyone who was at the restaurant or lounge between July 31 to August 3 and August 6 during operational hours to self-monitor for symptoms.
“We’re not able to provide any more details, but would appreciate help notifying the public about this latest exposure,” the release reads.

Two months ago, an Instagram story posted by Pierre’s Champagne Lounge in Yaletown seemed to show a crowded bar and few health regulations being followed. Although the general manager argued the video was misleading.
Days after the video surfaced the province amended regulations for the service industry.
Only 50 people are allowed in a restaurant or bar at one time under provincial health rules, and it’s up to the businesses to ensure the rest of the regulations, like physical distancing, are being followed.
“Foodservice owners need to remember that protecting your employees and patrons requires layers of protection in the kitchen and in the dining area. Plans need to include such things as frequent handwashing, increased cleaning, using barriers in kitchens and dining areas, and giving lots of space between tables,” say Health Minister Adrian Dix and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry in a June release.
