2 kids still in hospital following crash involving Lamborghini from car rally near Whistler

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A multi-vehicle collision close to Whistler has seriously injured six people according to BC emergency health services. Two of the six, are children.

According to the Whistler RCMP a Lamborghini came to a stop on the wrong side of the road causing a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 99 at Daisy Lake, south of Whistler on Saturday.

“A black Range Rover and a silver Lamborghini were travelling northbound where they were involved in an incident which caused the silver Lamborghini to lose control and hit the median, cross over in oncoming traffic, and hit a Toyota crossover coming southbound,” a statement from the RCMP reads.

Multiple occupants of the Toyota and Lamborghini were injured and transported to hospitals, including two children who police say are in stable condition.

“We are investigating both the drivers of the Range Rover and the Lamborghini for Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and once all details are obtained including the ICARS analysis we will have a clearer picture of fault. We have seen far too much tragedy on the Sea to Sky highway to last us all a lifetime, we can only implore those in our area to slow down…everyone who visits us wants to get to their destination safe and sound.”

The crash caused Sea-to-Sky Highway closures for hours.

The RCMP adds another person held up in traffic medical emergency which was unrelated.

The collision occurred after the annual Diamond Hublot Rally, which is a driving charity rally on the Sea to Sky Highway.

An air ambulance was also on scene.

Witnesses say, several cars involved in the rally were driving above the speed limit.
